Paying Attention

I look around but all I see

It just appears as make believe

And I can't help but feel

That this whole world is tumbling downhill

 

Is something wrong or is it just me

I miss those times when I felt free

But I know that I have changed

While my whole world has been rearranged

 

I guess this is the way it's always been

We watch as the things that we once knew fade away

When we stop paying attention

We watch as the people we once knew turn away

Can't turn back time, I can't look back

It's true that life goes by too fast

And there is no more innocence

Cause it's been taken away by those with ignorance

 

It seems now that everyone is fake

I try so hard just to relate

But I can't help but feel

Amazed how people can go out of their way

Just to try and tear me down
